Additional information

The tune is an attempt to transmit a feeling of Maghrebi (Arabesque) medieval music, present in Spain in the late Middle Ages. The song's concept was something purely spontaneous: I was watching Discovery Channel on a muted TV set and made up an imaginary soundtrack to the scene I saw (some explorers walking the desert).

The song's arrangement is pretty simple, mostly due to the duration limit. Nonetheless, I tried to introduce as much variation as possible in order not to repeat the exact same phrases, which, in my opinion, would sound unnatural otherwise. Also, some "humanization" was introduced on the recorder, attempting to simulate gracenotes and the effect of overblowing. The gracenotes are less noticeable on the two tarogato parts. The three different drums cover both the panning range and the frequency spectrum, resulting in a more complete sound.
