The 2008 Roguelike Soundtrack Contest rules

Goal

produce a medieval/renaissance themed music suitable for a roguelike soundtrack before July, 4 2008, 23:59 GMT.

Registration

Participants shall register at any time before the deadline by sending an email to either Mingos or Jice: dominikmarczuk and jice.nospam, both at gmail.com.

Music Creation

Medieval/renaissance theme

Only a limited set of instruments may be used. They are in SF2 format and will be provided to the participants as soon as they register. Usage of any other samples is strictly prohibited.

Only standard effects (reverb, chorus, echo, ...) shall be used. No advanced plugins that would give an unfair advantage are allowed, including, but not limited to, sound synthesizers.

Any sequencer supporting SF2 soundfonts can be used or another one if you manage to convert them to a format compatible with it. A different sound format may be supported on a special request (either Kontakt, Giga, Vsampler2 or EXS24).

The final song duration must be between 1'30 and 2'00.

Submission

Final scores will be submitted in mp3 or ogg vorbis format by email, to both Mingos and Jice, before July, 4 2008, 23:59 GMT.

Vote

The songs will be announced on r.g.r.d. on July, 5 and submitted to public vote until July, 20 2008, 23:59 GMT.

Afterlife

After the voting is done, the authors may submit an improved version of the song with any modification they like (advanced effects, background sounds, other instruments...).

every song submitted will be available to the public under a Creative Commons by-nc-sa license (see http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/).
